Our Board of Directors represent the medical community.
Our Board legally oversee the management and strategic direction of SMS. We are proud to have the below international experts on our board.
Kimberly Whitten-Chung, EdD, NRP
Kimberly is the Director of Simulation Operations at Pikes Peak State College in Colorado Springs, the largest prehospital education institution in Colorado. She is a licensed paramedic in Colorado and has an EdD. in Higher Education Leadership and Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, and Assessment, with over 20 years of experience in EMS and over 15 years of experience in education.
Ian S. Wedmore, MD
Ian is a board-certified Emergency Physician from Tacoma WA. He served in US Army for 29 years, much of that time with USSOCOM including 8 combat and several non-combat deployments. He developed the US Army Austere and Wilderness Medicine Fellowship which he directed for 7 years. He teaches wilderness medicine, dive medicine, mountain medicine as well as prolonged field care. He is an avid climber, skier, canyoner and mountain biker.
Herman Tiemens, MBA
Herman holds an MBA from London Business School as well as a Certified Financial Planner certification. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and Estate Planning Council. Herman volunteers with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic & Philharmonic Foundation, Colorado Business Community for the Arts, Cultural Plan Steering Committee for the Pikes Peak Region, and Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute.
Aebhric O’Kelly
Aebhric is a former US Army Green Beret, a Psychologist and a board-certified Critical Care Paramedic. He is a founder of the College of Remote and Offshore Medicine Foundation which offers academic programmes for the remote, austere and offshore industries. Aebhric taught on the NATO Special Operations Combat Medic course in Pfullendorf, Germany and taught Battlefield Advanced Trauma Life Support (BATLS) for the MoD. He is currently writing a clinical doctorate from the University of Stirling.
Susan Mellow, JD
Susan is a lawyer in private practice, with over 25 years of experience. She also serves as General Counsel to a national software consulting firm. Susan has a long history of board service and currently serves of the boards of Temple Shalom Foundation and Cheyenne Mountain School District 12.
Sean Keenan, MD
Sean is a Board-certified Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services physician with over 25 years of experience in emergency, prehospital and operational medicine. He was the original coordinator of the Prolonged Field Care Working Group and has served on the board of the Special Operations Medical Association for over 5 years. He works as a consultant for the Joint Trauma System, Defense Health Agency, and the University of Colorado, and as Chief Medical Officer for Ragged Edge Solutions, LLC. He also serves as the Chief Executive Officer for SMS, and Chair of the International Committee for Austere Emergency Care.
Roger Samuel Dail
Roger served as a Gunners Mate in the US Navy before joining the US Army Special Forces where he served in several countries worldwide as a Senior Weapons Sergeant (18B) and as a Senior Medical Sergeant (18D). Roger is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ragged Edge Solutions, LLC – a leader in military Special Operations medical and prolonged field care training.
